Step1: Greet and warming-up
1. Greet the whole class
2. Look at some pictures of amazing people and match these pictures with their achievements.
3. Talk about these amazing people:
What do they have in common?
What can we learn from them?
Step2: Reading
1. Lead-in:
T: Just now we have talked about amazing people. You know amazing people made many amazing things, one of which is the pyramid. There are plenty of mysterious stories about pyramids. One of the most mysterious stories is the curse of the mummy. So, today we will talk something about the curse of the mummy.
2. ① Look at the pictures of mummies and pyramids and predict information from the title:
What can you imagine from the title “ The curse of the mummy”?
② Learn “Reading strategy: predicting information”
3. Fast reading: Answer the following questions by skimming and scanning.
* What’s the name of the Egyptian King whose tomb Carter found?
* What happened to some of Carter’s team members after the tomb was opened?
* How many people died?
4. Further reading: Read the text carefully while listening to the article and finish Part C1 on page 44.
5.Careful reading:
① Match the summaries of the paragraphs with the correct paragraphs after reading the article carefully.
